News from the Parish Organisations

The Bell-ringers at All Saints’ have been invited to carry out a ringing tour of the Soviet Union next year. This is the first time that such a tour has been made by ringers from Wokingham, and they will be there for two months. About twenty of the ringers will be going.

As there is a shortage of bell-towers in Russia, our ringers plan to take the All Saints’ bells with them. “This will present a certain amount of difficulty, because of their weight”, explained Mr. Frank Pearson, the foreman of the ringers, “but the parish transport scheme organised by the Stewardship Committee has come to our assistance”.

The tour begins in Leningrad on 1 April next year, and the ringers wall be active in a total of 23 different cities and towns, finishing on 31 May in Vladivostok, where they will ring a quarter peal before evensong in the parish church.

The ringers will be accompanied by representatives of the choir, the Mothers’ Union, the Men’s Society, the Women’s Fellowship and the Sunday school. Leaflets giving full details will be available in church on April the First, or contact Mr. Kendal (780820).
